I was trolling the photography websites and I found an interesting product announcement. FinPix F30
The thing that's so interesting about it is that it has ISO3200 sensitivity in a handheld camera. I don't know whether it would actually have good noise performance at that sensitivity, but who knows. Something that is being discussed on several photography forums is that the mega-pixel race is pretty much over. This makes a lot of sense. People don't need a 30 Mpixel camera, around 6Mpixel is about all that people need for snapshots. Most people don't even print up their photos and when they do, the don't usually print over a 4"X6". So, now that the mega-pixel race is over and most consumer cameras are now 6+Mpixel what do the camera manufacturers do? They start to add features! This camera is one of the first in a new wave of these type of cameras. It has Image stabalization, High sensitivity ISO, pretty good optics, etc. It's going to be interesting to see what features they are developing for the consumer to make the move up to the prosumer camera models.
